I've reported it with the title 'WiFi driver tries to set power when it knows 
transmitter is off'

I have put your name in the bug report too, so you might be contacted about it. 
I thought that was sensible. Hope you did not mind, but since you were willing 
to submit it yourself, I thought it would be sensible. 

I stuck the output from prtconf -pv and scanpci too. 

As I said in the bug report, I don't have the knowledge to debug drivers, but 
if someone wants to send me some code to try, I can test. I don't mind giving 
someone from Sun remote access (root) via ssh if necessary. But given its a 
laptop, I can't guarantee it will be on when it suites someone else.
