Flashing the BIOS was a good idea.

My HP Pavilion dv5000 has always had this same problem.
Back in February 2006, using NV build 33 I found the kernel debugger workaround 
of "npe`pcie_error_disable_flag/W 1". As others have noted, it wasn't any fun 
using it.

Today I pulled down from HP support their BIOS update F.44 (2006.09.20), ran 
it, and found that I can boot directly into Solaris 10 GA update 2.
