I have an IBM T43p notebook which has a pci-e bge interface. At home with a Linksys 54g router, inetmenu configures the bge0 interface without problem or delay when connected to one of the 100 mbit switch ports.
At work, bringing up bge0 takes a long time and sometimes fails (dhcp-nonis selection). The dhcp server is a SPARC box running Solaris 8 with current patches including kernel, dhcp and most other things applicable to the maxed out 220R. The T43p is wired to a Cisco 29xx switch. The 220R gigabit (ce) interface is connected to a 3Com gigagit switch and the two switches are connected. Before using inetmenu, dhcp configured bge0 at work without problems or apparent delays. I've started using inetmenu since the T43p has an Intel wifi interface and I wished to test that (it works at home but sometimes seems to go into slow mode so I tend to use the bge as it is always fast). Using inetmenu also makes things work easier when neither ethernet interface is configured. Any suggestions on what to check? Are there any upcoming updates to inetmenu?
