The specs that I found on the web for the Toshiba Tecra A9 shows a standard
intel chipset, so I suspect for audio it is trying to use the audiohd driver.
Before snv_99, the typical problem with audiohd was missing hd codec support.
Does the kernel log something like this to /var/adm/messages?
WARNING: audiohd0: unsupported HD codec: vid=0x11061708, rev=0x00100700
