Thanks Andrew. I'm *really* in need of getting folks to code review
these bits ... I can't submit the RTI until I get review feedback.
I *have* completed the testing, and am reasonably satisfied with the
results, so at this point the only thing holding these changes back from
integration is code review feedback.
