So what am I supposed to do to load it?

I've just tried

# modinfo | grep battery
#

After updating the hal binary, I seem to be getting some useful results from it
now, but i have two issues.

1) Any changes of battery or mains does not cause any rapid change in the
status of the battery monitor in the panel. It takes 30 or so seconds to
update. A similar change under Windows vista was shown instantly in the battery
status widget in vista.

2) The little status monitor on the panel at the bottom does not show the
battery has been removed. I removed mine about 10 minutes ago, and it still
says

"System is running on AC power
1 hour 5 minutes before charged (65%).

Since the battery is not in the laptop, I have some difficulty in knowing how
it can be charging!
