Hey guys.

I have now succeeded in getting two machines reliably using the rum
driver with WPM in 2008.11 (build 95). Yea!

There's one oddity I'm wondering about, however: On my HP Pavilion
Slimline I'm using the onboard adapter (VID.PID == 15a9.0004). When I
boot, if I do nothing, I still suffer from the problem of apparently
being connected, but losing that connection every few seconds. Nothing I
had tried (and there were many things) changed that. So then I plugged
in the Linksys WUSB54GC, figuring I'd have to use it instead. Almost
immediately after doing a ifconfig rum1 plumb, rum0 suddenly decided to
get an address and start working.

I've since tried booting and doing an ifconfig rum0 unplumb followed by
an ifconfig rum0 plumb in the hopes that it would magically wake my
adapter up like plumbing rum1 did. Nope. The only way I have figured
out to get my onboard adapter to work is to plug in the usb adapter and
plumb it. Works like a charm each time.

While I don't mind (all that much) having to do this, it does seem
rather silly. :-) So.... Any explanations (and/or suggestions of
something less silly which would accomplish the same end result)?

Thanks! Take care.
Joanie
