Here's a comment a question you didn't ask: what screen size and shape? I
have a new T61 14.1" widescreen w/nVidia graphics. I like the form factor
since I carry it in a backpack during my ferry commute. Screen res of this one
is 1440x900.
My observation/complaint has to do with virtualization (I see this mentioned
down-thread). When running VMWare a reasonable host virtual screen resolution
doesn't _quite_ fit within the 900 vertical pixels of the real screen. Once
VMWare has added its window "frame" to the client screen it is a little too
tall to run 1024x768 fully on-screen. 800x600 seems a little cramped for a
client screen. Further, IIRC, some T61s actually have lower resolution
screens. ???x800 I think. I don't have any experience w/Xen.
I like the T61 (which multiboots Linux and Solari OK in addition to the virtual
clients) but I kind of miss my T43's 1400x1050 screen when running virtual
client screens. Oh, and it won't quite fit the website pages I tend to visit
without limiting the font size somewhat.
Kind of an oddball reason for picking a screen resolution. Just my $.02..
