After installing the iwk-driver from the package I tried an ifconfig:

0 1 root at vega pts/11 wifi/iwk 55# ifconfig iwk0 plumb
ifconfig: SIOCSLIFNAME for ip: iwk0: permission denied

On the console I got :
Nov 6 22:28:34 vega iwk: NOTICE: iwk: Radio transmitter is off

Yes could be, so I shut down the machine and had a look into the
BIOS-setup. Yes it was disabled, since Solaris didn't support it
and there is no Windows or linux onboard...:}

After enabling the wireless interface in the BIOS I restarted the
machine and did an ifconfig iwk0 plumb, still permission denied
and the above console-message. I remembered that there is a small
switch turning off all wireless transmitters, that is wifi and
bluetooth. I powered them on, but still no plumbing. The interface
was plumbable only after a devfsadm-run after powering on the
transmitter. What I did not really understand is, why is the
interface not plumbable while the transmitter is turned off,
eventhough the wifi-interface is visible for Solaris while the
transceiver is turned off?

While the interface is up and running, if I turn off the transceiver,
I get:
Nov 6 22:40:39 vega iwk: NOTICE: iwk: Radio transmitter is off
Turning it on again, I get:
Nov 6 22:40:44 vega iwk: WARNING: iwk_config(): failed to set power mode
Nov 6 22:40:44 vega iwk: WARNING: iwk_init(): failed to configure device
But despite the error messages, sometimes the interface is running fine,
sometimes it doesn't come back. It's still plumbed, but wificonfig scan
doesn't return.

I tried that under Nevada build 73 on a T61p. Thanks a lot for the
driver. Even at low speed, it is wireless :)
