In order for path changes to stay beyond the current shell (i.e. stay
after reboot), you have to put them in the special file in your home
directory that gets executed every time you log in. That file is called
.profile . (Note the initial period -- Unix 'hides' files by starting
their name with a . rather than having any 'hidden' attribute).

So if you put the PATH-changing statement you used into your .profile,
it should work across reboots.
