Just got the new toy, downloaded b19 recently (over a dialup, yet!),
burned the CDs, partitioned (worth paying for P.M. not to have to reload
Windows!),
and installed. Install went smooth, except I'd asked for stuff on the
Companion CD
and then not had burned one, so I had to tell it to skip that at the end of
the installation.

On reboot, all I had was a black screen; I think the OS was up (occasional disk
activity and such), but I couldn't see what I was doing, so it didn't help much.
This laptop doesn't have "legacy" ports (serial and parallel) onboard, and I
don't have the docking station, so a serial console setup (if that's even
possible
on x86) isn't an option.

What are the specific steps needed to get up with at least as good a display as
appeared during install? I've already seen about downloading the broadcom
network
driver.
