.xorg.conf is not used by anything except the no-longer shipped xorgcfg
program. It was created by the kdmconfig service (also now gone) which
ran Xorg -configure on boot to get a template for xorgcfg to modify if
you had no pre-existing xorg.conf. In short, you should ignore it,
because the system certainly will.
