This may be related to a bug associated with a recent kernel update: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/50274. I've gone back to an older kernel in order to keep S3/S4 working (mea culpa, I've got to regress this to nail down where things work and where they don't, keep an eye on the bug report). Then again, it may be something else! :-> YMMV.... :-> pww
