You actually don't need a special app to do this. Use the Finder to inspect any document that is opening with the wrong application, File/ Get Info and you will see Open with and a pop-up to select the app you want it to open with. Below that is a button, Change All, which will change the finder's doctype->app mapping.

Another sneaky thing that happened to me is that `ant lztest` decided to launch Firefox under Parallels. I suspect that's where you may need David's solution.

OK I found an app to fix this.

I downloaded something called RCDefaultApp, which looks at the Launch
Services database, and figured out that
files with the .swf extension had somehow been mapped to Internet
Explorer, which magically is an app that
fires up Windows and runs an IE window.

So the issue seems to be the the default browser for my Mac is now
Internet explorer. The "open" command
on the Mac launches IE by firing up a Parallels Windows VM.

So what is the way to tell "open" to use Firefox or some other native
Mac browser for opening URLs?

On my Macbook, I installed Parallels with Windows XP.

Now, in my emacs shell in Leopard, when I try to run the Flex
debugger, fdb, it does this:

badtzmaru:swf9 hqm$ fdb hello.lzr=swf9.swf
Adobe fdb (Flash Player Debugger) [build 189825]
Copyright (c) 2004-2006 Adobe, Inc. All rights reserved.
Attempting to launch and connect to Player using URL
hello.lzr=swf9.swf

Then it fires up Parallels, and launches an Internet Explorer window.

WTF? Anyone know what is going on, or how to stop it?
