So, you arg going to have people code going forward by using something like:

Just for back-compatibility? This seems at odds with the massive change you
just put in that will force every app in the universe to stop using `getText()`.
Isn't the beauty of open source that we can arbitrarily change our API and just
tell people "hey, waddya expect for free"?
