I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and will probably upgrade to 10.4 at the end of this month.
I've had some problems with previous installs, mostly with the pnm* stuff ... but that seems to have solved itself a version or 2 ago. Ubuntu uses texlive which seems to be pretty popular these days.
