> The display in question is a vnc server Further testing has shown that 1. It has only happened when the layer is run in a subprocess 2. Using xvfb-run (via make check) seems to work. On Karmic, xvfb-run would hang, which is why I was using a vnc server in the first place. It seems like the subprocess invocation isn't propagating some piece of the environment that the vnc server demands. Perhaps xvfb-run is less demanding?
