I'd say that if you have custom needs, generating an OOPS yourself is
fine, but if you generate an OOPS, don't log a warning/error.
Either/or.

Generating an OOPS directly is just using the richer interface, which
is a common pattern when a generic thing isn't sufficient.

That said, the generic thing should be made reasonably powerful so
that custom OOPS generating code isn't a common requirement.
