Hi Reuben, As mentioned on the announcement, translations will not probably make it to Google Chrome, but rather to Chromium. Google Chrome translations are done by third parties and have their own QA requirements. We're looking at getting the Launchpad contributions committed to Chromium trunk, but in the meantime translations are available for any Linux distributions or other platforms to use. For the technical details, and quoting Fabien Tassin, who implemented the translation infrastructure for the Chromium package integration with Launchpad: "You have two ways to benefit from these community efforts: 1/ you take my patches (or the pre-patched files) for the branch you're tracking. Everything is there: http://people.ubuntu.com/~fta/chromium/translations/ it's updated daily. or 2/ you take my script, and run it yourself on your local copy of the source tree. You'll need bzr. https://code.launchpad.net/~chromium-team/chromium-browser/chromium-translations-tools.head It's the chromium2pot.py script, for which you'll need to pass --import-gettext, --export-grit and possibly --create-patches (note that i'm still improving this script, even if it's stable enough to do its job, it's still very new so please pull that branch from time to time) you need to previously pull the launchpad export branch: https://code.launchpad.net/~chromium-team/chromium-browser/chromium-translations-exports.head it is a daily update of the community contributed strings in gettext format, and my script converts that to the chromium Grit format. (it also performs some sanity checks to prevent later build failures) I'm using this 2nd option for the ubuntu packages: each time i create a new source tarball (whatever branch it is, trunk/dev/beta/stable), i run this script on the unpacked source tree and create patches, that i land at build time. it means the patches never diverge as they are re-created for each source update. The 1st option is useful to pass the files to upstream and also for a quick review. Of course, we encourage your community to join in and contribute translations. The goal is that it benefits everyone, whatever the platform. Just to complement Aron's answer, here are the steps to create the Launchpad Manx Translators team (https://launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-gv) https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/LaunchpadTranslators#StartingTeam As you can see, they're very similar to the ones you followed when creating the Ubuntu team some months ago IIRC.
