I'd also like to point out a feature in Rosetta which you, as a maintainer, will find useful. You can also upload a tarball containing all the PO files and a POT to Rosetta, and you can export all translations as a single tarball. Even if it requires some manual work on your side (i.e. tarring up your "po" subdirectory and uploading it, or downloading all translations and commiting them to SVN), it's still a good and recommended work-around until the features you are asking about are fully implemented.
