"By definition" is not quite true. In principle it is possible to write a virus for Ubuntu, too. It might be considerably harder, most hackers seem to concentrate on Windows, etc., but none of this can replace the user's prudence. No desktop system can be secure against Trojan horses in particular. :) (Hard to disallow someone to shoot himself in the foot.)
