Heinrich, The type descriptor (TD) information you are looking for is "type def" information, which is stored in the "reserved/private" section of the TD header. It isn't documented (publicly) for several reasons, but primarily because NI wants to reserve the right to change it (in new versions of LabVIEW). Is not being able to have this information a problem for you? If so, there is probably a work-around.
