Hi all,

Tim Wen asked on Mon, 22 Mar 2004 17:20:11 -0800:
has anyone used a USB-to-mulitiport RS232 adaptor with LV ?
i need up to 8 serial ports, or 2 of 4-ports.
I have used Keyspan adapters (1-port and 4-ports) on sevaral projects and with several PCs with good success. Even had run two ECG recorder cards with 230kBaud each simultaneuos.
But having 8 serial ports might run on USB1 limits.
I'd suggest having a look at MOXA multiport adapters, especially the C320 Turbo series.. Allthough they connect on a PCI card you can stack up to 4*8 ports on a single card and operate all with up to 460kbaud. All ports still provide a system buffer of 2kB in this configuration. One even can stack up to 4 PCI cards so providing 128 serial ports to the system.
Had no problem at all accessing up to 24 ports until now. My actual test system provided those 32 serial ports, but I have used just 24 of them until now.

Greetings from Germany!
