Thanks Rolf for the reminder. I still have the old 4.x "bookshelf" so I could have looked it up. Current documentation is a bit vague, e.g. the type cast mentions only: "LabVIEW 4.x and earlier stores Boolean data in two bytes unless the data is in an array, in which case LabVIEW stores each Boolean element in a single bit. LabVIEW 5.0 and later stores Boolean values in a single byte, regardless of whether it is in an array.".
It does no longer clearly specify the container size for that "single bit" in 4.x boolean arrays, just that scalar booleans are two bytes. Oh well ;-)
