I am not sure if I understood you correctly, but is it possible that you do not have an image reference output on your CIN at all or you don't have it wired to the image indicator? I would have them explicitly wired together rather than rely on pointers/handles. If you have them wired, then your image should be redrawn and you'll see the changes.
