>From NI:

Problem: When I launch LabVIEW or the NI Example Finder for the first time
on Window XP Service Pack 2, I receive a Security Alert dialog box with the
following message:

To help protect your computer, Windows Firewall has blocked this program
from receiving unsolicited information from the Internet or a network.

Solution: Microsoft included additional network protection by enabling a
firewall by default in Windows XP Service Pack 2. This firewall can affect
LabVIEW and applications created in LabVIEW.

If you select the Keep blocking this program option, the LabVIEW VI Server,
LabVIEW Web Server, and any server written in LabVIEW cannot accept incoming
connections from a remote computer. Select the Unblock this program, despite
the security risk option to configure your computer to launch LabVIEW
without any changes in functionality.

If you have administrator access, you can configure the Windows firewall by
using the Windows Firewall Control Panel applet. To give LabVIEW permission
to receive incoming connections, select the Exceptions tab of the Windows
Firewall dialog box, click the Add Program button and locate LabVIEW in the
list or click the Browse button to navigate to LabVIEW.

If you want to give only specific LabVIEW servers permission to receive
incoming connections, you can create exceptions by clicking the Add Port
button. For example, if you want to block all LabVIEW servers except for the
VI Server, you can add the port for the VI Server in the Add a port dialog
box.
