Would you like to receive NI Addons as cross-platform OpenG Packages that you could install and manage on any and every installation of LabVIEW independently? For example, choose to install an addon onto only LabVIEW 6.1 when you have 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, and 7.1 installed concurrently?
More questions than answers...
Are you asking if we would prefer OpenG to take over the installation burden of all NI addons? Are we to assume by this that NI is not doing a good job of providing this service? Will NI rely on Open Source software to install non-opensource addons? I don't doubt the potential success of such a venture. I feel however that a better co-operation is required between NI and the OpenSource community if this becomes reality. It's nice that Jim rushed-off to create a package to only have it blocked by NI because of a licencing issue. Of course these issues need to be resolved.
One feature I would like to see is the ability to disable add-ons (not uninstall them). I would like to setup my LabVIEW environment as it relates to a specific customer project I am working on at that time. This could be as simple as saving a configuration. This configuration would include any installed packages.
