I think there's two things: the reduction in speed for every operation (e.g. changing a colour and redrawing) and the Big Freeze. In my opinion the freeze is by far the more important since at present the IDE is virtually unusable with gtk2 from a remote screen. I've put in quite a lot of time over the last few days reverting to 0.9.24 on some of the development systems, partly so I could do these tests but also to get back to having a working compiler for SPARC. I really do need to get on with some other things, like work. Having said that I want to try to get 0.9.27 onto my remaining available SPARC system, I'm very worried at the prospect of being marooned with gtk1 on 0.9.24 while the rest of the World moves on. However I think I could also usefully take another look at that startup delay, get definite confirmation that it's not a LAN throughput issue and see whether I can find any other cases where it happens. -- Mark Morgan Lloyd markMLl .AT. telemetry.co .DOT. uk [Opinions above are the author's, not those of his employers or colleagues] _______________________________________________ Lazarus mailing list Lazarus@lazarus.freepascal.org http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/mailman/listinfo/lazarus
