Should I just remove it ?

Might be the wisest solution.
renamed it and now I get:

"Clean Lazarus Source" completed
Fatal: Can't find unit system used by AllLCLUnits

I suppose now no fpc.cfg file at all is in charge any more:

fpc -va -->
[0.001] Configfile search: /home/mschnell/.fpc.cfg
[0.001] Configfile search: /usr/lib/fpc/etc/fpc.cfg
[0.001] Configfile search: /etc/fpc.cfg
[0.001] Handling option "-va"

So presumably the problem that happened when (just after an update to
Lazarus and/or fpc from the svn) is that I list the correct fpc.cfg
file.

Where should it be and what should it contain ?

Sorry for being a PITA ;)

Thanks a lot

/etc/fpc.cfg IS the right place (IMHO). Why don't you just open that file and fix it? If you still don't see what's wrong then, you might also want to read the build faq, since that contains a section about this AFAIR.
