Append would show the bottom part while currently the upper part is shown. It matches also the order of the history list of expressions. Other than that probably a matter of taste. Linux users are used to look for recent events at the bottom of logs. Windows users look at the top of the event logs. For cli commands, which will not be included, insert on top is very unnatural. So I'll probably propose a configurable top/bottom insert. Something like a 3 state button or combobox. Top insert, no history, bottom insert. No history state could serve as clear screen.
