There were some fpc 2.7.1 revisions that didn't work with Lazarus, butusually
and currently it does.
I don't know whether this helps, but overnight I've built Lazarus
trunk (r38724) on FPC 2.7.1 (r22414) for 32-bit PPC on Debian and
basic operation appears OK.

I've compiled FPC Trunk from 10 minutes ago, also updated Lazarus SVN
Trunk and compiled. I'm getting some linking errors.

Here's the result:
...
Linking ../startlazarus
/usr/bin/ld: saltando el /opt/gnome/lib//libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so
incompatible mientras se buscaba -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0

Wasn't there a recent change where the prerequisite version of gtk was incremented? Try building for Qt or (as suggested) lazbuild only.

However unless you really need trunk I think you ought to be using Lazarus 1.0 + FPC 2.6.0: there are still issues in later versions e.g. http://mantis.freepascal.org/view.php?id=22463
