What I failed to notice was that FPC was not compiling correctly. Interesting enough though, I was getting a similar error when compiling FPC. It also was throwing a compile error on sysutils. I finally had to do a make clean, make all, make install on the FPC source, then a make clean, make all on Lazarus. Everything is now happier than a pig in slop and as a bonus, the debugger now appears to be working.
