Lazarus 0.9.22 is about to be released.

0.9.8 is almost 2 years old.

I strongly recomend that your upgrade. Also upgrade your fpc to 2.0.4

A simple appplication (a button and a label) works well until I save it.
What is this "link.res" ?

link.res is a file created by fpc. I think it´s created to link the
application, and right after removed, so, if you see it, this can only
mean that the linking of the application failled.

Where should this be, so that I can compile my applications without any
trouble?

Likely it shouldn´t exist before compilation. Maybe there is something
else wrong, like the binutils cannot be found, but I again recomend
that you upgrade.
