Hi Peter,
just for comparison, here are the dE values I could achieve for my Epson 1240U scanner (with a W.F. reflective target):
LCMS lprof, CLUT=33, no local convergence analysis:
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = no correction ... avg=1.38 max=15
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = CRT ............. avg=1.65 max=20LCMS lprof, CLUT=33, local convergence analysis turned on:
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = no correction ... avg=0.84 max=12.6
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = CRT ............. avg=1.18 max=16Argyll, profile -qh ... :
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = no correction ... avg=0.83 max=4.1
Epson 1240, 16-bit gamma=1,
color correction = CRT ............. avg=1.13 max=5.6Of course these dE values just specify how well the LUT matches the data points used to create the profile (i.e. the IT8 patches). However, even more interesting would be to know how well the profile would perform for colors different from the IT8 patches.
BTW: Which scanning software and scanner settings did you use? (as you seee above, I get better dE with "color correction = no correction")
Regards, Gerhard

What are reasonable values for dE when using an Epson 3200 Photo scanner and the Wolf Faust reflective targets? I have an average dE of 1.39, but a peak dE of 15.94, for colour patch J4 on the target. I have a number of dEs of 5 as well, usually in the yellows. Is this unreasonable?
Thanks, Peter Gregson
