Hi,

That's an old thread which I have not been able to answer until now,
just because in this week I've had a review of lcms with my employer
and now I can answer more properly.

So I would like to ask marti, if he has ideas about the future of littleCMS, he wants to share with us.

Right now LittleCMS is kindly supported by Hewlett-Packard,
which is also the company I work for. HP not only allows me to dedicate some of my paid time but also contributes the funds needed to attend ICC meetings, open source summits and so one.

In this way, for example, I have been able to check lcms in the
last two ICC interoperatibility sessions. In such sessions many profile and CMM manufacturers check they products against others. Attending such meetings is a great way to be aware of
either real world problems and customer's needs.

Many decisions already taken are because such meetings, here
are some examples:

a) In a beta version time ago, I introduced a built-in version of
AdobeRGB. I wasn't aware of the problems this could cause,
just becase "Adobe" is a trade mark. Talking with an Adobe representative was very helpful in such case.

b) Regarding the vcgt tag, you have to know this is a Apple private tag. A representative of Apple let me know the policy of Apple is to not allow the use of this tag in platforms other than Apple. Knowing
that on time was helpful to prevent IP infringment problems.

c) The cmsSetAdaptationState function comes from a suggestion
of ICC about how to deal with v4/v2 differences in absolute colorimetric. And so one. After the review mantained last week, I can tell you that lcms is in good mood, it will continue being open source, it will have further enhancements and in general all expenses will be kindly covered by HP.

So, many thanks, HP for this great support!

Best regards
Marti Maria
