Right. I was wrong, this change was made on 2.2. The entry in ChangeLog 
is "Removed pthreads need".

The list of changes goes backwards. 2.4 had no changes when released. 
All changes between 2.3 and 2.4 is what made 2.4. Sorry, I realize it is 
a bit confusing.
