Hi, people!

I work for a Brazilian institution which has a series of labs for
ditigal inclusion over the country and want to unify the
authentication database using LDAP.

It would be simple, except for one rather uncommon detail: my
employers want that each lab must have its own local LDAP server
containing all users that was registered at this lab. Periodically,
the data of this local servers must be replicated to a central server.
Moreover, the LDAP clients must search for an user at the local
servers first and, if no data is found in this server, the LDAP
clients must search for some data at the central server.

I am not a LDAP expert - actually, I was hired to code C and suddenly
I am an LDAP deployer :p - and, after a long research, I am doubting
it is even possible by the LDAP protocol. Does someone know a way to
do it? I've tried referrals, proxy databases on OpenLDAP etc. etc but
not worked...

Anticipatedly thankful!
