Hello all,

Problem 1:
I updated pam_ldap and nss_ldap for my open ssh (with ldap compiled). When
I try to ssh to the server, I can login successfully but it hangs before
showing the prompt/shell.

If I removed ldap /etc/nssswitch.conf from:
passwd: files ldap
shadow: files ldap
group: files ldap

I can get the shell immediately.

Problem 2:
After I setup PAM using LDAP I cannot start slapd. The init script hangs
after slapdtest (or something like that).

# service ldap start
Checking configuration files for slapd: config file testing succeeded
                                                           [ OK ]
Starting slapd: (then hangs here)

If I remove ldap in nsswitch.conf e.g. passwd files (only) it works...

Problem 3:
I create a test account (login, in /etc/passwd) before and I use
MigrationTool to import this account in LDAP. After I do a search in LDAP
I deleted the test account from /etc/passwd (test account still in LDAP
dir).

When I use getent I cannot see the test account in the output at all. I
followed the instruction from the book: LDAP System Administration
(P.113).

Many thanks for your help. Merry xmas :)

I think you'll likely be better served by writing to the software list dedicated to the software you are running. If it is OpenLDAP, try [EMAIL PROTECTED]
