The "mail" attribute is multivalued. Can't you say:

uid=ruprecht,ou=People,dc=myldap,dc=colorado,dc=edu
objectClass: inetOrgPerson
cn: Peter RUPRECHT
sn: ruprecht
uid: ruprecht
mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
instead?
