Dave, you are right.

However if I try to add nxge0 on the primary, I get the error message

bash-3.00# ldm add-vsw net-dev=nxge0 primary-vsw0 secsd
The device path nxge0 for virtual switchprimary-vsw0
is already in use by virtual switch secondary-vsw0
