VxVM does not work in guest domains. Veritas is working on it & new VAD
(veritas application director) release is coming out on Sept 2008 which
would support LDoms.

Hi,

is VxVM supported in Guest LDoms ?

I thought yes but after rereading the doc regarding LDoms and Veritas
storage foundation from Symantec I'm not sure anymore. And my tests
until now were also not successfull:

After installing VxVM in a Guest LDom VxVM does not see the disks
(format does see the disks; one disk of the disks of the guest ldom is
based on a file in the primary LDom and the other disk is based on a SAN
LUN)

If VxVM should run in a Guest LDom - where should I continue searching
the reason for the not working VxVM?

Our environment is:

Solaris 10 Update 5, ldm 1.0.3, and VxVM 5.0 + MP1

I already asked our Symantec representive about this issue but did not
get any answer from them until now. It seems that Veritas Storage
Foundation & LDoms is not a common used combination If anybody is using
VCS and LDoms I would be glad to share some thoughts and experiences.

regards

Bernd

VxVM does not work in guest domains because VxVM is not correctly
identifying virtual disks. We have helped Veritas investigate problems
VxVM was having with virtual disks, so I suppose they are working on a
new release of VxVM that will work in LDoms guest domains, but I was
unable to get any schedule when this will be available. So you need to
get back to Veritas if you need more information.
