I had assumed that the problem with VxVM and LDOMs was in how VxVM DMP
works. When using VxVM, the device virtualization occurs after all the
devices are discovered and device files created. VxVM DMP then
virtualizes the devices into a /dev/vx/dmp... device so then if you
use the /dev/vx device to create volumes and filesystems they are
protected from path failures.

My assumption was that the /dev/vx devices were not suitable for
virtualizing and exporting to a logical domain.

I know that some multipathing solutions work in a similar fashion
compared with STMS like SecurePath for example. With SecurePath the
devices in /dev/dsk link to swsp devices in the /devices tree. With
SecurePath the /dev/dsk/cxtxdxsx devices may be used directly just as
with STMS.

>From Octave's reply it sounds as though it is incorrect to assume that
/dev/dsk/ctd devices will work when they are controlled by none-STMS
multipathing solutions.
