After running ldmp2v collect & ldmp2v prepare, did you carry out the 3rd step
(ldmp2v convert). Until you do that you won't be able to boot the disk image.
You supply the ISO image in that step and it carries out the upgrade
(and adds the sun4v bits necessary)

Possibly because the disk image created by 'ldmp2v prepare' is not fully
initialised until you run 'ldmp2v convert' and the Solaris Installer might
not have recognised it in it's current state.

Not really. You'd need support for 4765069 RFE: lofiadm should be VTOC aware
