I can't even imagine a concept that I like better than what you've
done, which is why I've not bothered. I'm sure everybody else has
their reasons, although I woudln't be suprised if they're pretty

What about a 'coming soon' page, or even better, a 'vote for your
favorite' linking the mailing list and the candidates (which,
granted, don't seem to exist except yours).
