Ugh.
Excite@Home has problems (and has shot the messenger, to boot). E@H
is the -content- provider. The all important "last-mile" comes from the
local cable monopoly.
At worst, the cable companies will have to learn how to be ISPs. Optimum
Online (Cablevision) seems to "get it" while Verizon (yes, yes, DSL) can't
turn around w/o breaking something else.
At best this will open the doors to cable-modem ISP competition where the
cable co's just provide "IP-tone" and the Mom&Pop's provide email, news,
webspace, true static IPs (mmmmmmmmmmm), etc.
... So, who's building cableisp.lrp?
