Just to let everyone know why those kernels never materialized, I first
went to update my server from the sadly-out-of-date 2.4.2 that it's
currently at to a more respectable 2.4.12-ac3 after I posted those
messages.

2 hours later, I actually got the box back up and alive, but the mail was
hosed for another two and a half days; this is in fact also a test message
to see if I actually have everything fixed.

Not content to hose just my server, I then noticed that there was a BIOS
update for my workstation that was a solve to a slightly buggy problem I
had. So I flashed my BIOS and discovered that my gorgeous Athlon 1.1GHz
system - which I still owe a grand on - was failing to POST.

Joy.

Two days and lots of crying, hair-pulling, and swearing later, I finally
found where Asus hid the Clear CMOS contacts, cleared the CMOS, and bam,
back in business.

So I apologize for promising kernel fixes that still haven't materialized,
and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to set their
BIOS to defaults before flashing it.

See ya on the flipside!
