Maybe the cron script should handle this, but I have the ntpsimpl solution: change rm `find /var/log/ntpstats -type f -mtime +7` to oldfiles=`find /var/log/ntpstats -type f -mtime +7` if [ "$oldfiles" != ""] then rm $oldfiles fi I am sure a script guru can make this a one liner or worst case two. I noticed this problem because on initial startup of the firewall shorewall would not rotate until 7 days after.
