Paul,
Do you think moving/copying the leaf repository to svn would help? SVN
does diff binaries and allows moving/restructuring modules. This might
help our developers address your concern.

        Note: SF isn't discontinuing CVS. Both CVS and SVN will coexist
        for the foreseeable future.

David Douthitt was working on a ports based system for Oxygen.
