Migrating to new kernel also makes pcmcia-cs broken - and, as said official page, it's really deprecated (usable only for 2.4 kernels) and must be replaced by new pcmcia utilities from http://kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/pcmcia/pcmcia.html I added pcmciautils, but it needs configuration and testing.
