went back to testing branch I had without latest changes for toolchain and gcc, but based on 3.10.25 kernel. Once again it failed to produce a bootable image. I then looked into the kernel config, changed some "suspicous" settings and tried to be in sync with the working i486 kernel. And finally go the the iso image booting with qemu. I've committed the changes to branch master, doing a rebuild and will report back tomorrow, but I hope it's fixed with new gcc and toolchain changes as well.
